The UK representative delegation will visit the Crimea for the first time after the Peninsula's annexation to Russia.
In April the UK representative delegation of fifteen people intends to visit Crimea. This was told by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov. Guests will take part in the V Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) from 18 to 20 April 2019.
"We expect the attendance of about 15 British politicians, experts and businessmen. The UK delegation will visit the Peninsula for the first time since 2014. Previously, the British came to the Crimea, but separately, not as part of the delegation," he said.
Mr. Aksyonov noted that the purpose of participation of British citizens was to study the investment potential of the Crimea and the establishment of trade relations.
According to Mr. Aksyonov, the Peninsula has "huge investment potential" and it is appreciated by foreign entrepreneurs who want to establish trade relations with the region. Such visits contribute to the normalization of trade relations, he stressed.
This year, the Peninsula celebrates the fifth anniversary of its reunification with Russia. During this time, despite the sanctions regime the region managed to establish relations with foreign politicians, public figures and businessmen at the level of public diplomacy. The Crimea is constantly visited by foreign delegations. Entrepreneurs from those countries, whose authorities do not officially recognize Russian sovereignty in the Crimea, conduct their activities in the region.
The Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) is an annual international business event in the economic sphere held in the Crimea. The V YIEF will be held in Yalta from 18-20 April. In addition to participants from the UK, guests from Germany, Italy, Austria, Greece, Belgium, France and Syria will attend the Forum.
